This spring the Deep River-Portage Burns Waterway Initiative will be launching a volunteer stream monitoring program to increase public involvement opportunities and collect vital water quality data. We will continue monitoring at several of the sites used by IDEM for the baseline water quality assessment. Additional sites likely will be added at a later time. Since we will be using the data to help track changes in water quality over time and inform watershed management decisions , volunteers will need to have previously attended a Hoosier Riverwatch training workshop. - For questions or to register for one of these workshops please contact me at jexl@nirpc.org or (219) 763-6060 x137
